In the past few months, several friends have experienced deep loss and heavy struggles—some grieving the death of a child or parent, others battling health issues.
And it’s made me pause and reflect. How do I deal with loss and how can I be a good friend to others struggling?
Because we all face pain eventually. Sometimes it’s loud and consuming. Other times, it’s quiet and aching. But either way, it’s real—and it changes us.
If you’re walking through a hard season right now, I want you to hear this:
You are not alone.
Whether you’re the one hurting or you’re walking beside someone who is, here are two gentle reminders that have helped me navigate pain:
💛 If you’re hurting: Give yourself permission to feel it. You don’t have to “be strong” for everyone else. Let yourself grieve, rest, pray, and simply be.
🤍 If you’re a friend: Don’t worry about saying the right thing—just show up. A quiet presence, a hot meal, or even a simple “I’m here” text can be a lifeline.
📖 “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
Grief and struggle are part of life—but so are comfort, compassion, and love. Let’s be the kind of people who offer all three.
🕊️ Have you walked through something hard lately—or supported someone who has? I’d love to hear your story or simply know how I can pray for you.
