A few weeks ago, I got to check something off my bucket list I didn’t even realize would happen this summer… parasailing!
It was a gift from my parents to our whole crew—me, my four kids, and my brother and his family. We laughed, cheered each other on, and soared (literally) above the water, gliding through the air with nothing but the wind and a parachute carrying us.
Was I nervous? A bit! But I was excited too!
And I’m so glad I said yes.
If I hadn’t said yes and taken the action, I would’ve missed the pure joy on my kids’ faces, the laughter from our family, and the quiet awe of seeing the world from a new perspective.
My brother and I were the first to go. We looked out over the water, saw the boats below, and felt the wind carry us. And you know what? It was freeing.
That’s the thing—so often we stay grounded because of what-ifs.
What if I don’t like it?
What if I’m not ready?
What if it’s too hard?
But what if you love it?
What if it changes how you see the world… or yourself?
Trying something new doesn’t have to be something big like parasailing. Maybe it’s speaking up in a meeting. Signing up for a class. Taking time to dream again. Or just choosing not to let fear drive the day.
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles…” – Isaiah 40:31
You were made to soar—not stay stuck.
So here’s your reminder: even when it feels uncertain, you can still take the leap. Do it with courage. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll realize you had wings all along.
Reflection Tip:
What’s one thing you’ve wanted to do that you’ve been putting off?
Name it. Write it down. Pray over it. And then take a small step toward it this week.
