A couple of weekends ago, I got to reconnect with longtime friends I hadn’t seen in over five years! The time together filled my heart in ways I didn’t even realize I needed. We all live in different parts of the country now, so getting together in person was extra special.
We laughed, cried, shared stories, prayed together, and yes — tried Nashville Hot Chicken for the first time (highly recommend!). We shopped, strolled, sipped coffee, and simply enjoyed being together.
It reminded me how life-giving true connection really is. Friendship — especially among women and moms — can so easily get pushed to the back burner. We tell ourselves we’ll make time “after we get everything else done.” But the truth is, we need that connection.
We’re not meant to do life alone. God created us for community.
Whether it’s a coffee date, a walk, a quick phone chat, or even a video call with a friend far away — connection fills our souls.
Here are a few ways to nurture your friendships (and maybe spark new ones, too):
1. Be intentional.
Schedule time for connection. It doesn’t have to be fancy — even 20 minutes can make a big difference.
2. Be real.
True connection happens when we take off the masks and share honestly — our joys, our struggles, and our hearts.
3. Be present.
When you’re together, put the phone down, look your friend in the eyes, and listen. It’s the simple moments that build lifelong bonds.
