Stepping Out and Riding Forward

Biking with family on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes in Idaho.

A few weeks ago, a few of us in the family along with our visiting family from Germany decided to try something new—we rented e-bikes from Gear Garage in Coeur d’Alene (highly recommend if you’re local!) and ended up riding nearly 40 miles together along the Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes.

This trail is a stunning 73-mile paved bike and walking path, and we got to ride a good portion of it right along Lake Coeur d’Alene—absolutely breathtaking! The weather was perfect, the scenery peaceful, and the time together unforgettable.

The pedal-assist bikes gave us a little help when we needed it, but it was still great exercise and even better connection. We laughed, chatted, and made memories I know I’ll treasure for years to come.

That day reminded me how valuable it is to step out of our usual routines and try something unfamiliar.
It can be uncomfortable at first—but growth, joy, and new confidence often live just outside our comfort zones.

Here are two simple ways to challenge yourself this week:

🌟 Pick something just outside your comfort zone. Try a new trail, class, or creative project.
🌟 Do it with someone. There’s something special about sharing new experiences with others.

📖 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid… for the Lord your God goes with you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6

Trying something new might just be the beginning of a favorite memory in the making.

👉 What’s something new you’ve done—or something you want to try?
