Creating Space for God to Work

As Valentine’s week approaches, messages about love are everywhere. But instead of focusing inward or striving to fix ourselves, I want to offer a different perspective.

When we seek God first, when we rest in His love and faithfulness, everything else flows more naturally. Including how we care for our homes, our bodies, our minds, and our relationships.

True peace does not come from trying harder. It comes from knowing and believing in Jesus and letting Him be Lord of our life.

Scripture reminds us that God’s love is steady, faithful, and renewing. When we receive His love and give Him praise and gratitude, He shapes our hearts and equips us to love others well.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22–23
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:24

From a brain perspective, environments that feel safe, calm, and supportive help regulate our nervous system. When we create rhythms and spaces that invite peace and prayer, our brain can settle, reflect, and receive.

This is not about self focus. It’s about making room for God to do His work.

Here are a few simple ways to do that:

  1. Create quiet space. Even a few minutes to pause, breathe, and pray can reset your nervous system.
  2. Release pressure. It is not about trying harder or trying to be perfect. We do not have to earn God’s love. We receive it. It is a free gift.
  3. Practice gratitude. Gratitude to God shifts our focus from striving to trust.

When God is our portion, hope becomes steady and love overflows naturally into every area of life.

Your turn:
What’s one way you can intentionally create space for God this week? I’d love to hear.

Happy Valentine’s Day to you! I hope you know how loved you are just for being you! I’m grateful for you!
